For years, I wrote for a University of Oregon sports website called FishDuck.com, a partner of USA Today Sports. During my time at Fishduck I held the editorial position, which meant I had free reign to cover anything I wanted, so long as it related (often indirectly) to Oregon sports. Where many contributors wrote technical stat-heavy articles, I chose a more offbeat path—including an article on Taco Bell, an article on the curse of a doll given to me during college, and many more unique perspectives.
